Torrealba is suspended 66 games in Venezuela

Texas Rangers catcher Yorvit Torrealba on Monday was suspended from Venezuela's professional baseball league for 66 games for striking an umpire.

Torrealba was quarrelling using the home-plate umpire Friday after striking out. He angrily put a hands around the umpire's mask and shoved him. He ended up being thrown.

League Leader Jose Grasso Vecchio known as Torrealba's behavior unacceptable along with a breach of league rules.

Torrealba plays for that Caracas Lions if not playing within the majors. His agent, Melvin Roman, stated Torrealba appreciates he got caught up within the warmth from the moment. (AP)

Cubs accept handles Sonnanstine, Corpas ? The Chicago Cubs decided to one-year, non-guaranteed split contracts with pitchers Andy Sonnanstine and Manny Corpas. Terms weren't available.

Sonnanstine was 28-31 having a 5.26 ERA in five seasons with Polk Bay. He earned 80 begins in 132 looks.

Corpas spent five seasons with Colorado but didn't help out the majors this past year after going through Tommy John surgery on his pitching elbow in September 2010. He first showed in 2006 and grew to become the Rockies' closer half way with the 2007 season, going 4-2 with 19 saves along with a 2.08 ERA while helping them win the NL pennant.
